About HBH Rehab
Learn about our mission, our team, and our commitment to your recovery.
Our Story
HBH Rehab was founded in 2021 with a clear purpose: to create a treatment center in Oakland that combined clinical rigor with genuine human compassion. Our founders — a team of addiction medicine specialists and recovery advocates — recognized that the East Bay needed a facility where individuals could access the full continuum of care under one roof.
From our first day on Fruitvale Avenue, we committed to treating every person who walked through our doors with dignity and respect. Five years later, our center has grown to 56 beds and a staff of 112 dedicated professionals, but our founding promise remains unchanged: evidence-based care delivered with heart.
Having served more than 2,500 patients, we continue to evolve our programs based on the latest research in addiction medicine while never losing sight of the individual behind every diagnosis.
Our Mission
Our mission is to provide accessible, evidence-based addiction treatment that empowers individuals to achieve lasting recovery. We believe that every person deserves a chance to heal — regardless of their background, circumstances, or the severity of their substance use disorder.
Our Core Values
- Compassion First: We lead with empathy in every interaction, recognizing the courage it takes to seek help.
- Clinical Excellence: Our treatment protocols are grounded in the latest peer-reviewed research and best practices in addiction medicine.
- Individualized Care: We design every treatment plan around the specific needs, strengths, and goals of the individual.
- Community Integration: Recovery doesn't end at discharge. We build connections that support lifelong sobriety.
Treatment Philosophy
At HBH Rehab, we understand that addiction is a complex medical condition — not a moral failing. Our treatment philosophy integrates multiple evidence-based approaches to address the biological, psychological, and social dimensions of substance use disorders.
Our clinical team combines Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), trauma-informed care, and 12-step facilitation into cohesive treatment plans. We also incorporate holistic therapies — including yoga, meditation, and art therapy — to support whole-person healing at our campus.
We believe that true recovery requires more than abstinence. It demands building a life worth living. That's why our programs emphasize life skills development, family reconnection, and long-term aftercare planning from day one.
